Scenes from a Marriage by Ingmar Bergman (assistant to director)

20-28 Mar 2021 at The Box, Freespace, Hong Kong

In their 20 years together, a seemingly ideal couple have gone through various changes in their relationship, from falling in love through betrayals and splitting up to getting back together. In such intimate proximity, many things have been revealed – their yearning for a shared life, the boredom of daily routine, conflicts behind passion, affection that cannot be expressed – and this, eventually, enables them to grasp the mystery of love that has accompanied them on their journey.

When it premiered in 1973, the original TV series created a sensation in Sweden. Film and theatre versions followed, tugging at the heartstrings of everyone throughout the world. Nearly 50 years on, in a time full of chaos and restlessness, Scenes from a Marriage still has the power to go straight to our hearts.

Macbeth by William Shakespeare (Assistant to Director)

2017-2019 in Shanghai, Wuhan, Taipei, Guang Zhou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, The Globe Neuss Shakespeare Festival, Sibiu International Theatre Festival, Berlin, Vienna, Warsaw, Indijia

A modern couple makes a dream in which they enter into the universe of Macbeth in a buried past of ancient China, assuming the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth and encountering the different characters in the play. Upon on getting out of the dream where the dark side of humanity is experienced, the couple begins to contemplate their possible place in this contemporary realm of turbulence.

Inspired by the tradition of Asian physical theatre, this version of Macbeth transmits the spirit of the play through a succession of stylised images, where body expression, physical movements and live accompaniment expose the characters' relationship as well as the director's vision of time and space.

Our Death Won't Hurt Anybody - Part 1

A play by Teatro de los Sentidos and
Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio (Assistant to Director)

6 — 8 July 2018 at Sala Teatre, Barcelona

The seeds of Our Death Won't Hurt Anybody were planted in 2015 during a meeting between Tang Shu-wing, artistic director of the Tang Shu-wing Theater Studio in Hong Kong, and Enrique Vargas, playwright and anthropologist at the Teatro de los Sentidos in Barcelona. The meeting, a workshop organized by the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong, gave birth to a wish to collaborate in a staging based on research on Humanity, based on the intersection between taxation and the senses; a work that also had to explore the unknown connections between images and narratives that were neither linear nor coherent, and that showed the importance of triggering the imagination of the spectators. As Schopenhauer said: let the spectators complete the last part of the aesthetic journey themselves.

Our Death Won't Hurt Anybody is loosely based on Sunzi's Art of War, an ancient treaty of military tactics that was written around the fifth century BC, when many of the realms of what is now China were in ongoing conflict. Both Tang and Vargas were attracted to a text that suggested connections with the absurdities and contradictions of the contemporary world in which we live.

Because fighting is a constant in our existence; from the battles that we have to establish navigating between the relations we maintain with those around us, to the wars between nations and our own internal struggles. Loosely inspired in the ten main tactics that appear in this Chinese classic, Our Death Won't Hurt Anybody delves into the thinking behind these strategies and reflects on their relevance in having to face our daily life.

姐姐 the help (director, producer)

23-25 Mar 2018 at Multi-media Theatre, HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity, Hong Kong

Maybe, just maybe,
They have more to bare back at home.
They know more about their rights.
They learn more about child-caring.
They are more educated.
Maybe they consider themselves family,
Or they wish they're mere acquaintance.

Maybe they are happier.
Or, just maybe, they are so much more than we imagined.

What are the stories behind domestic helpers? What are their impacts on local families? How do they influence their children and ours? With a population of nearly 350000, domestic helpers are a group we would like to understand more, starting from us to them.

(Actor)

24-27 Nov 2017 at Fringe Club, Hong Kong

The Red Tower (Actor)

My Red Tower

(Actor, Producer)

10-13 Mar 2016 at Cultural Activities Hall, Shatin Town Hall, Hong Kong

(Actor)

3-5 Jun 2016 at On and On Theatre, Hong Kong

Deconstructed by René Pollesch (Director, Actor)

15-17 Aug 2015 at On and On Theatre, Hong Kong
29-30 Jun 2016 at Old Court Building Blackbox, Macau
